The Yamaha YZ250F is an all-aluminum frame motocross motorcycle that was first released in 2001 with a steel frame but replaced in 2006 with a more streamlined and lighter version.

Today the YZ250F sports a liquid-cooled, DOHC 4-valve, fuel-injected engine. It comes with a forward-positioned straight downdraft intake with symmetrical intake and exhaust ports. There are a higher-compression piston and new intake and exhaust valving. The 2019 model has a lighter and upright angled cylinder for improved mass-centralization.

This latest model also comes with a compact electric starter system that minimizes restart delays on track. The starter is powered by a high-capacity, ultra-lightweight, four-cell lithium-ion battery.

You can also adjust the engine map to two different configurations. The flat-top forged piston has a bridged-box design that delivers extra strength with minimal weight. The piston, rings and DLC-coated piston pin, together with the offset cylinder configuration, reduce friction loss and provide a quick response.

The 2019 model comes with an adjustable fuel injection system that uses a new 44mm throttle body. This body is fed by a high-pressure electric fuel pump, and it injects fuel via its new 12-hole Denso® injector. The new radiator design is larger and angled more directly toward the incoming air stream, this provides better cooling and when combined with the new impeller and water pump boost cooling, endurance, and durability during the toughest conditions.

How to check your oil level

  1. Place the machine on a level surface.
  2. Hold it upright by placing a stand under the engine.
  3. Start your engine and let it warm up for a few minutes.
  4. Turn off the engine and wait a farther five minutes.
  5. Inspect the oil level; it should be between the minimum level mark “A” and the maximum level mark “B.”
  6. If the oil level is below the minimum mark, fill it up.
  7. After filling her up, restart the engine for a few minutes.
  8. Turn off the engine and inspect the oil level again.

Changing Your Oil

  1. Place the machine on a level surface.
  2. Hold it upright by placing a stand under the engine.
  3. Start your engine and let it warm up for a few minutes.

  6. Remove the lower engine guard.
  7. Remove the:

  8. Drain the crankcase and oil tank.
  9. Remove the:
    Oil hose clamp
    Oil hose bolt
    Oil strainer
  10. Inspect these elements and clean them.
  11. This is when you also replace the oil filter if necessary.
  12. Replace all the parts, close up the system.
  13. Fill in the new oil.

Change the oil frequently; this will reduce the need to change the filter.
Frequent oil changes lead to better engine performance.
